Taxpayers' Bill of Rights #1:

RIGHT TO BE INFORMED

What's Included in Your Right To Be Informed?

Written Notices to you from the IRS must include the amount of tax, interest, and penalties owed.

When a claim for a refund is rejected, the IRS must specifically state why your claim was fully or partially disavowed.

When a Notice or Letter is received from the IRS, it must include a link for more information to IRS.gov, which helps you better understand the Notice or Letter's details.

After you've signed an Installment Agreement, the IRS must send you an annual statement that confirms all payments made for the previous 12 months.

The IRS must make current and previous years' tax forms available to you in several languages online and by calling the IRS at (800) 829-3676.
